Synopsis:

It is the year 2194. The Gamilons, an enemy of undetermined form, begin an invasion of Earth. The nations of Earth pool their forces and fight back, but their armies are defeated and most of humanity wiped out.

Five years later, in 2199, the Earth has been polluted by space-to-planet bombs, and those who remain alive have fled underground. Even the former top pilot, Susume Kodai, has left the military. One day as he is exploring above-ground, a mysterious object falls out of the sky. This is a communications capsule from the planet of Iscandar, 148,000 light years distant.

Apparently on Iscandar is equipment that will eliminate the radiation. The Defense Force of Earth equips the Space Battleship Yamato with a previously unknown propulsion system, a wave-motion engine based on plans found in the capsule. Kodai rejoins the Force, and resolves to set out aboard the “Yamato.” With the fate of the Earth in their hands, the crew blasts off for distant Iscandar. They have one year until radiation drives humanity to extinction. Kodai great battle has begun. Carrying humanity last hope with it, the Yamato blasts off!

155 Tage vor dem Kinostart (laut dem Countdown auf der offiziellen Website) wurde im japanischen Fernsehen ein neuer Trailer zu Takashi Yamazakis Realverfilmung von Space Battleship Yamato mit netten Schlachtszenen und dramatischen Sterbeszenen gezeigt.

Toho hat pünktlich zum Jahresende einen ersten TV Spot zu Regisseur Takashi Yamazakis Realverfilmung von Space Battleship Yamato ausgestrahlt. Der Film basiert auf der Vorlage von Leiji Matsumoto und Yoshinobu Nishizaki und soll im Dezember 2010 in die japanischen Kinos kommen.

Nachdem es hier in letzter Zeit vorwiegend optisches Naschwerk für männliche Besucher zu sehen/lesen gab, hier nun etwas für die Ladies. In Anh Hung Trans Thriller I Come with the Rain agieren mit Josh Hartnett, Takuya Kimura und Lee Byung-Hun gleich drei zugegeben durchaus ansehnliche Kerle vor der Kamera.
Wobei der sehr atmosphärische japanische Teaser Trailer unten bis auf einige Einstellungen eher nichts für empfindliche Mädels sein dürfte…
Harnet spielt den Ex-Cop Kline, der als Privatdetektiv von einem chinesischen Miliardär auf die Philippinen geschickt wird um dessen vermissten Sohn Shitao (Takuya Kimura von SMAP) aufzuspüren Eine Spur führt Kline und seinen ehemaligen Kollegen Meng Zi (Shawn Yue) nach Hong Kong, wo er auf den Kriminellen Su Dongpo (Lee Byung-Hun) und dessen drogenabhängige Freundin Lili (Tran Nu Yên-Khê) trifft und in den Drogenkrieg zwischen Mafia und Polizei gezogen wird. Bei der Suche stößt Kline auch an seine psychischen Grenzen als die Erinnerungen an seine frühere Polizeiarbeit und den schaurigen Grund für seinen Ausstieg an die Oberfläche kommen…

I Come with the Rain läuft ab 6. Juni in Japan, internationale Starttermine gibt es noch nicht. Die geplante Premiere in Cannes wurde leider auch gestrichen. Ein fast sechs Minuten langer Promoclip wurde letztes Jahr veröffentlicht.

Oh Mann, ich hoffe ja stark daß das was ANN da vermeldet nur eine verspätete Aprilscherzmeldung ist. Laut einem Bericht der Nikkan Sports (tolle Quelle für Filmnews) ist das fünfköpfige Ensemble der japanischen J-Pop Boygroup SMAP (Sports Music Assemble People) im Gespräch für die Hauptrollen in der Realverfilmung von Yoshiaki Kawajiris Anime Klassiker Ninja Scroll. Leonardo DiCaprio, dessen Produktionsfirma Appian Way sich im letzten Herbst die Rechte für die Verfilmung gesichert hat, hat sich als großer Animefan geoutet und versprochen den Film erst dann auf Zelluloid zu bannen, bis er ein ordentliches Skript in den Händen hält. Welch nobles Ziel!
SMAP besteht aus Masahiro Nakai, Takuya Kimura, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Goro Inagaki und Shingo Katori, die allesamt bereits in mehreren Serien und Filmen aufgetreten und unter anderem auch schon für Studio Ghibli Filme vor dem Mikrofon Platz genommen haben. Ob das allerdings ausreicht um die Ninja Scroll Thematik als Hauptdarsteller (5 Stück?) rüberzubringen wage ich zu bezweifeln, aber als Kanonen Schwertfutter für einen passenen Jubei Darsteller könnten die Jungs allerdings gerne herhalten.
