Shochiku Entertainment hat einen Promo Trailer zur (japanischen und damit untertitelfreien) DVD und Blu-ray Disc Veröffentlichung von Appleseed XIII: Yuigon, dem ersten Teil von Production I.G.’s CG Anime Neuerzählung von Masamune Shirows Appleseed Manga in ihren YouTube Channel online gestellt.
Internationale Veröffentlichungen sind aktuell leider noch nicht angekündigt.

Synopsis:

Following a world war that killed half the world’s population, the city-nation of Olympus stands as a beacon of hope in a world of chaos and conflict. The utopian metropolis is governed by Gaia, a vast artificial intelligence, and administered by a genetically engineered humanoids known as Bioroids.

Although Olympus seems like a peaceful city on the surface, racial (human vs. bioroids vs. cyborgs), religious, and political conflicts lurk underneath — threatening to overturn the delicately balanced “peace”. Security threats such as terrorists and anti-government criminals abound, so the use of force becomes a necessary evil even in this so-called utopia.

Deunan, a young female warrior, and Briareos, a veteran cyborg-soldier, are both partners and lovers, as well as members of ES.W.A.T., the elite special forces serving Olympus. They are deployed wherever trouble strikes.

Conspiracy, terrorism, deadly military weapons technology, greedy corporations, and power-hungry politicians — these are just some of the threats that Deunan and Briareos must contend with as they fight to protect Olympus and save mankind from plunging into another war.

Auf der offiziellen Website des Appleseed XIII CG Anime Projekts wurde am Wochenende ein erster Trailer sowie einige Details zu den Kino- und Heimkinoplänen veröffentlicht.
Die erste Hälfte Appleseed XIII: Yuigon soll ab dem 13. Juni in ausgewählte (japanische) Kinos kommen und zeitgleich als limierte Edition auf Blu-ray Disc an den auserwählten Kinokassen erhältlich sein. Der Rest der Geschichte, Appleseed XIII: Yogen, kann dann ab dem 24. Oktober begutachtet werden.
Stubenhocker können die erste “reguläre” DVD und Blu-ray Disc Veröffentlichung mit drei von 13 geplanten Episoden ab dem 6. Juli käuflich erwerben oder als Onlinestream (vermutlich Japan-only) ansehen.
Der Trailer haut mich nicht wirklich vom Hocker. Da hat sich bis auf den leicht geänderten Renderstil zumindest technisch nicht viel seit Appleseed: Ex Machina getan, aber vielleicht kann die OVA Serie ja von der Story her endlich mal etwas Appleseed-würdiges reißen.

Totgesagte leben offenbar wirklich länger. Gut zwei Jahre, nachdem das Appleseed Genesis TV Projekt offiziell abgeblasen wurde, vermeldet ANN jetzt, daß Masamune Shirows Manga nun doch noch einmal (re)animiert wird. Appleseed XIII soll in Form von 13 OVA Episoden mit jeweils 22 Minuten Länge sowie zwei zusammenfassenden Filmen umgesetzt werden und sich recht nahe an der Mangavorlage orientieren. Produziert wird die Serie von Jinni’s Animation Studios und Production I.G. Auf der TIFFCOM wurde ein erstes Promobildchen sowie eine Zusammenfassung gezeigt:

Auf der aktuell laufenden Tokyo International Anime Fair 2009 hat das Anfang des Jahres frisch gegründete Produktionsstudio Lucent Pictures Entertainment sein neues Projekt vorgestellt. Dieses hört auf den Namen Squad, wird mit der Tagline “A battle for the front mission — I’ll cover your back.” beworben und interessanterweise zusammen mit Ghost in the Shell und Appleseed Erfinder Masamune Shirow produziert.
Mehr als das links gezeigte Teasermotiv, das eher an ein Videospiel als an einen Anime erinnert, wurde nicht bekannt gegeben.

ANN berichtet, daß das Animationsstudio Radix mobanimation die Produktionsfirma Micott & Basara wegen unterlassener Zahlungen verklagt hat. Radix sollte die im März angekündigte und Genesis getaufte CG Serienfortsetzung der Appleseed Reihe animieren, wurde für die bisher geleistete Arbeit nach eigenen Aussagen jedoch noch nicht (ausreichend) entlohnt. Zudem hatte Micott & Basara Anfang Juli die Produktion der Serie aus unbekannten Gründen gestoppt, ohne Radix die Gründe dafür vorzulegen.
Bis die beiden Streithähne sich geeinigt haben gibt es also nichts neues aus dem von Ghost in the Shell Schöpfer Masamune Shirow erdachten Appleseed Universum

Überotaku Danny Choo (der tanzende Stormtrooper) ist mal wieder mit Kamera und Camcorder bewaffnet auf der TAF unterwegs und hat auf seiner Tour den ersten richtigen Trailer zu Real Drive [RD Sennō Chōsashitsu] (ANN) dem neuen Production I.G Anime von Masamune Shirow eingefangen. Anschließend kann man noch einen kurzen Blick auf das Postermotiv sowie den creepy Hostessenbot werfen…

Serienstart ist am 8. April und ich freu mich wie ne wilde Sau!

Leider nicht so stimmungsvoll wie der erste Trailer kommt der neue Trailer zum neuen Masamune Shirow & Production I.G Anime Ghost Hound daher. Die erste Folge mit dem Titel “Lucid Dream” wird am 18. Oktober in Japan ausgestrahlt. Der Titel der zweiten Episode “E.M.D.R. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing” lässt auch Rückschlüsse auf die Verwandschaft mit dem Brainfuck Anime Serial Experiments Lain, dessen Skriptschreiber hier mitverantwortlich war, zu.
