Beyond Hollywood hat die ersten bewegten Bilder zum Realfilm zu SNKs Videospielreihe King of Fighters ausgebuddelt. Gezeigt werden einige Kampfszenen sowie kurze Interviewsequenzen mit Regisseur Gordon Chan (Painted Skin, Fist of Legend, Beast Cops) und den Hauptdarstellern Maggie Q, Sean Faris, Ray Park (Darth Maul aus Episode I) und David Leitch die alle die übliche Marketingscheiße von sich geben.
Mache mir trotz Gordon Chan nicht viel Hoffnung, das was gezeigt wird müffelt mal wieder zu sehr nach Lederklamotten, übertriebenen CG Effekten und Dragonball Evolution.

Fast pünktlich zur Premiere auf dem Toronto International Film Festival (Review bei ScreenDaily) wurde ein zehn Minuten langes, freundlicherweise englisch untertiteltes Promovideo zu Tian Zhuang Zhuangs The Warrior and The Wolf mit Joe Odagiri und Maggie Q in den Hauptrollen veröffentlicht.

In the Era of the Warring States, before the unification of China, thousands of soldiers are dispatched to fight the enemy and conquer nomadic tribes. Sent to remote regions at the edges of the known world, the soldiers encounter many adversities, and the brutal challenge of survival often brings out the worst human instincts. But valiant Lu Chenkang (Joe Odagiri) belongs to a different breed. He is brave, loyal and extremely skilled in the art of war. Nevertheless, he is kind-hearted and averse to murder. Though he has a pet wolf cub, he keeps his own animal instincts at bay.

When his commander and friend, General Zhang Anliang (Tou Chung-hua), is badly wounded just before the incipient winter, Lu takes over command of the troops. Forced to find shelter in the village of the mysterious Harran tribe, he discovers a beautiful young woman (Maggie Q) hiding in his refuge. A widow shunned into solitude, she has a fierce personality and fights Lu in every way she can before surrendering to his passionate embrace, having fallen for him against her better judgement. She seems to possess the strange ability to take his mind to a place where memories collide with dreams and legends – a place where humans were once wolves.

Erster kurzer Teaser Trailer zu The Warrior and The Wolf vom chinesischen Regisseur Tian Zhuang Zhuang nach einer Kurzgeschichte des japanischen Schriftstellers Yasushi Inoue. Die Hauptrollen übernehmen (passend zum Produzentenmix) Maggie Q und Joe Odagiri. Der Film wird Mitte September auf dem Toronto International Film Festival gezeigt, erste Reviews sollten also bald einflattern.

Noch ein neuer Trailer zu Three Kingdoms: Ressurection of the Dragon, das dürfte inzwischen der dritte sein den ich zu Daniel Lees Historienverfilmung hier präsentiere. Bin ich eigentlich der einzige der findet, daß die chinesischen Filmemacher den Hostingplattformen ruhig mal ein paar Yuan mehr zustecken könnten, damit ihre Filmtrailer in passabler Qualität angeboten werden? Zumindest scheint aber genug Kohle in die Kostümausstattung geflossen zu sein, auch wenn manche Requisiten fast schon zu gut und detailiert für die Zeitepoche aussehen.

Längere Zeit war es still geworden um Daniel Lees Verfilmung des chinesischen Historienwerks Romance of Three Kingdoms, wahrscheinlich hatte man befürchtet neben den epochalen Erzählungen aus Chinas Gründungsgeschichte etwas unter zu gehen. Wobei man sich bei einem Cast mit Andy Lau, Sammo Hung und Maggie Q eigentlich nicht verstecken bräuchte. Kinostart von Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon ist April 2008, bis dahin kann man sich erstmal am frisch von Yahoo! Taiwan veröffentlichten Trailer erfreuen.
