Während viele Blu-ray Discs von FUNimation auch auf europäischen Playern abspielbar sind, macht das Label leider auch öfter mal Gebrauch des Regionalcodes A, also vorm Kauf kurz auf der Studioseite im Asian Blu-ray Guide vorbei schauen. Dort ist in den Kommentaren meist auch vermerkt ob es sich nur um upscales oder um “echte” HD Titel handelt.

US fans of Studio Ghibli rejoice! Walter Disney HE announced to finally bring Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind to North America on Blu-ray Disc on March 8, 2011.
The 1984 masterpiece is already available on Blu-ray Disc in Japan, UK and Australia. While latter ones are locked to Region B (confirmed for the UK disc, but I bet Madman will use the same for their Australian release), the amazing Japanese release is region free but could put many fans off because of its high price. So the upcoming US Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack with the following features and temporary specs should please most region A buyers. Hopefully Disney will add a losless Japanese audio track this time…

Ich habe mich in letzter Zeit ja ein bisschen zurück gehalten wenn es um DVD und Blu-ray Disc Veröffentlichungen aus Hong Kong geht, aber ich dachte mir, daß diese Meldung ein paar von euch, die nicht regelmässig im Asian Blu-ray Guide vorbei schauen interessieren dürfte.
YesAsia hat nämlich frisch die Hong Konger DVD und Blu-ray Disc von John Woos Reign of Assassins gelistet. Die Scheiben sollen am 25. November erscheinen und (wie für Mega Star üblich) mit englischen Untertiteln ausgestattet sein. Als Regionalcode der Blu-ray Disc wird aktuell Code A angegeben, aber auch hier zeigt sich Mega Star oft recht importfreundlich.

Eigentlich habe ich ja schon vor einer Weile aufgehört mir Filme nur wegen der Verpackung (noch einmal) zu kaufen, aber beim schicken kanadischen Blu-ray Disc Steelbook von Edgar Wrights Shaun of the Dead könnte ich glatt (nochmal) schwach werden…

Anlässlich des US Kinostarts im Dezember und der DVD + Blu-ray Disc Veröffentlichung im Frühling 2011 hat FUNimationen einen englisch synchronisierten Trailer zu Mamoru Hosoda und Satoko Okuderas Summer Wars angefertigt.

In Sachen Heimkinoauswertung können wir uns übrigens schon früher freuen, da Kaze den Film in Deutschland (und diversen anderen europäischen Ländern) im November auf DVD und Blu-ray Disc bringt.

The Sky Crawlers ist ja nun kein wirklich brandaktuelles Thema mehr (Erstkontakt war im Juni 2007), aber pünktlich zur baldigen Veröffentlichung in Deutschland hat Universum Anime noch einen deutschen Trailer rausgehauen. Im Gegensatz zu dem Trailer der US Kollegen von Sony Pictures wird hier erfreulicherweise auch hervorgehoben, daß Mamoru Oshii hier kein Actionfeuerwerk mit (nur) grandiosen Luftschlachten abfackelt, sondern eher die ruhige Schiene fährt und sich auf die inneren Konflikte der Charaktere konzentriert.

The Sky Crawlers erscheint am 12. November auf DVD und Blu-ray Disc bei Universum Anime, wobei die letztere Variante passenderweise im Steelbook (wahrscheinlich aus Wrackteilen gefertigt) ausgeliefert wird.
