Donnie Yen Fans rejoice! Universe will release Wilson Yip’s Ip Man 2 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc with English subtitles on June 25th. There will also be a Blu-ray Disc collection with both parts of the biopic about the life of Bruce Lee’s teacher on the same day.

And another quick home video release of a Hong Kong titles that just opened in Asian cinemas last month. According to YesAsia, Daniel Lee’s 14 Blades starring Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung and Vicky Zhao will be released in Hong Kong on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on April 14th. Coming from Universe Laser, both releases will include English subtitles but people outside of Region A will have to wait for a confirmation if the Blu-ray Disc will be region locked (like Universe’s last release, The Storm Warriors) or not.

YesAsia has now listed Universe Laser’s release of Ip Man. The biopic stars Donnie Yen as Bruce Lee’s wing chun mentor and will be released on February 13, 2009. So far all both of Universal’s Blu-ray Disc releases (Sparrow and Invisible Target) have been region free, so let’s hope that the same applies to Ip Man.

Die asiatischen Labels bleiben ihrer knappen Vorankündigungspolitik treu und so ist erst heute in einigen Foren die Meldung aufgetaucht, daß bereits am kommenden Freitag (21. Dezember) Benny Chans Invisible Target (Trailer, Review) als Blu-ray Disc veröffentlicht wird. Bisher haben DDDHouse und Play-Asia die Scheibe gelistet, die anders als die Infernal Affairs und Flash Point Blu-ray Veröffentlichungen erfreulicherweise bereits im Vorfeld als regionalcodefrei (bzw. Code A, B & C) gekenzeichnet ist.
Da der Film vom HK Label Universe Laser veröffentlicht wird, werde ich erstmal die Reviews abwarten, da Universe für schwankende Qualität bei DVD Veröffentlichungen berüchtigt ist und bisher keine Erfahrungen mit den HD Medien hat.

Bereits am 7. September soll die Hong Kong DVD zu Benny Chans Invisible Target (Trailer) bei Universe erscheinen. YesAsia hat den Copthriller als Einzel DVD sowie als 3 Disc Limited Edition (Disc 1: Film mit engl. UT, Disc 2: Extras mit engl. UT, Disc 3: Soundtrack) gelistet.
