Facebook-exclusive Clip for Jackie Chan and Li Zhang’s 1911 (Revolution)

A Facebook-exclusive (and English subtitled) clip has been posted on Jackie Chan’s official Facebook fan site for his (and Li Zhang’s) upcoming drama 1911 (Revolution).

Synopsis:

At the beginning of the 20th century, China is in a state of crisis. The country is split into warring factions, the citizens are starving, and recent political reforms have made matters worse, not better. The ruling Qing Dynasty, led by a seven-year-old emperor and his ruthless mother, Empress Dowager Longyu (Joan Chen), is completely out of touch after 250 years of unquestioned power. With ordinary citizens beginning to revolt openly, the Qing Dynasty has created a powerful, modern army (the “New Army”) to quash any rebellion. But weapons are expensive, and desperate for cash, the Qing leaders are trading anything they can get their hands on with foreign countries… and selling China.

Jackie Chan’s Police Story to be released on HK Blu-ray Disc in September

After a bunch of delays, the Hong Kong based distributor Fortune Star finally starts to keep its promises made in earlier this year regarding the announced Blu-ray Disc releases. After two of the four Bruce Lee classics were already released in August, fans of HK super star Jackie Chan can rejoice as well as YesAsia has listed the Blu-ray Disc release of the first part of Chan’s Police Story 1985 classic today!
The Police Story trilogy was announced together a Blu-ray Disc trilogy box of Jet Li’s Once Upon A Time in China back in June. The Blu-ray Disc of Police Story I will be released on September 7th and will (according to YesAsia) include English subtitles. Since there’s a huge “1″ visible on the front cover and spine (displayed left) I guess the other parts will be released soon as well.
Let’s hope that Fortune Star won’t use region coding to lock out European buys like they did with their Bruce Lee releases…

Chinese Star Power in first Trailer for Jian Guo Da Ye

Normally I wouldn’t write an entry about the trailer for Jian Guo Da Ye (The Great Cause of China’s Foundation/Founding of the Nation), a tale of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China but it somehow amazes me how the producers managed to convince about every Chinese superstars to wear a uniform and smirk into the camera. I clearly recognized Andy Lau, Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Zhang Ziyi, Zhao Wei and Tony Leung but couldn’t find names for some other familiar faces. I think I saw John Woo (1:21) and Chow Yun Fat (1:11) but they don’t even appear on the cast listing…

The Shinjuku Incident: Erster Trailer [Update]
