Afrotastic! Afro Samurai Live-Action Film in the Works!

THR reports that the US and Dominican Republic-based production group The Indomina Group announced during Comic Con the plan to produce a live-action adaptation of Takeshi Okazaki’s Afro Samurai manga.
Samuel L. Jackson, who voiced the grunty samurai in Studio Gonzo’s award-winning anime series will co-produce the film together with the animation studio. Shootings are supposed to start in the Dominican Republic next year, but footage of early stuntmen training sessions has already leaked… :monkey:
This should be pretty interesting, especially if they’re trying to bring all of Afro’s weird enemies to the screen.

New Trailer for Studio Madhouse’s Iron Man Anime

During San Diego Comic Con, Marvel released a new trailer for the upcoming Iron Man anime series produced by animation studio Madhouse. Looks like Madhouse is now using rendered CG frames for the Iron Man suit itself while the first teaser released one year ago still showed some nice traditional animated footage.

Six Character Posters for Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch

The girls look a bit too clean and photoshopped for my taste, but I really dig Amber’s Bunny Mecha! Who’s your favorite admitted girl hero?

First Look at the Girls of Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features a Comic Con special that gives us a first look at Zack Snyder’s next film Sucker Punch starring Abbie Cornish (Sweetpea), Jena Malone (Rocket), Emily Browning (Baby Doll), Vanessa Hudgens (Blondie) and Jamie Chung (Amber) in leather suits carrying big guns in some kind of sci-fi fantasy world. Count me in!

The film follows Babydoll (Emily Browning), whose abusive stepfather sends her to an insane asylum where she imagines an alternative reality that comes to life. Expect fantasy dreamscapes filled with dragons, zombie soldiers, steampunk, sci-fi and monolithic mecha.
“Anything I thought was cool got put in the movie,” Snyder says.

Halo Legends is coming to DVD and Blu-ray Disc in February 2010

I’m not really interested in the Halo Legends anime project after seeing the Babysitter preview clip, but judging from the amount of comments in the few entries on this topic I think some of you might be interested that Warner Home Entertainment has announced to release Halo Legends on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in the states on February 9, 2010. The DVD version will be available as a singe-disc edition and a two-disc special edition with some more bonus material. The Blu-ray Disc edition will include all the extras of the DVD special edition and an exclusive “Halo: The Story so Far” feature.
