Spirited Away HD Screenshots from Disney’s Snow White Blu-ray Disc

A keen eyed user from the Blu-ray.com forum has spotted a few seconds of HD footage from Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away in the bonus features of Disney Picture’s Snow White Blu-ray Disc release. Hopefully this means that Disney will release Miyazaki’s masterpieces on Blu-ray Disc together with Ponyo in March 2010.

Spirited Away on Blu-ray Disc in November?

Despite Studio Ghilbi’s statement that Japan will be the first country to see their films on Blu-ray Disc, Dutch distributor Paradiso Home Entertainment announced Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi) for November. According to DVDInfo.be and bol.com, Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning feature will be released on Blu-ray Disc on November 19th with Dutch and French subtitles, so even if this will really hit the shelves in the Netherlands before Japan it won’t be of much use for most Ghibli fans…

[19.10.] Update: GhibliWorld.com’s Peter informed me that Paradiso will only release an upscaled version taken from their current master on Blu-ray Disc. meh!

Amazon lists first Studio Ghibli Blu-ray Disc releases!

Bloody hell Amazon, stop playing games with my heart if you don’t want to bring me to an early grave! IF you’re listing Blu-ray Disc release of Studio Ghibli’s masterworks like you just did with Spirited Away, Mononoke Hime, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea and Howl’s Moving Castle, please wait until you have proper release date! :monkey:

In Spirited We Love: Spirited Away inspired Icon Set

##NOLIGHTBOX##
Here’s something a bit different from the usual trailers, posters and other stuff the studio’s marketing machines spout out every day. While searching for some new icons for my EeePC, I stumbled upon this cute and incredibly detailed icon set named In Spirited We Love from deviantART user Raindropmemory. As you can guess from the name, all 72 256×256px (max) sized icons in the set have a very strong resemblance to the characters and locations in Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpiece Spirited Away/Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi.
The set is a bit too cute for my taste/desktop but maybe some of my female readers can put these icons to good use… ;)

Sehr schöne Aktion, auch wenn man die Filme alle schon auf DVD hat. Bei mir in der Nähe gibt es natürlich kein Aktionskino, verdammtes Cinemaxx Monopol!
