Today Warner Bros. Home Entertainment finally confirmed the ongoing rumors regarding the collector’s item included in the US limited edition for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. The “Limited Edition Blu-ray Combo Pack” will come with a replica of Batman’s heavily damaged Bat Cowl. Just like the one in the teaser poster released back in December 2011.
This and the regular editions of The Dark Knight Rises will hit the shelves in the USA on December 4thm, 2012.

Meh, looks like I’ll have to stick to my seven year old US DVDs of the Lone Wolf and Cub (Kozure Okami) film series that I wanted to swap for Animeigo’s upcoming Blu-ray Disc Collection. Judging from the screenshots posted in the Rock!Shock!Pop! Forum, Animeigo sent Ogami Itto and little Daigoro past the river Styx to DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) hell.

Almost six years after the release of the first episode, Geneon published a first trailer for the tenth and final episode of their Hellsing Ultimate OVA series. Expect lots of blood, fire and nazi madness.
To finally end the wait for the US fans, FUNimation will release a Blu-ray Disc collection with the first four episodes in October. After that the following episodes will also be released.

After Disney Home Entertainment Japan delighted us with their Blu-ray Disc releases of Hayao Miyazaki’s classic My Neighbor Totoro (50 HD screen captures) and Isao Takahata’s Gave of the Fireflies in July, the two next upcoming titles from Studio Ghibli were announced.
Kiki’s Delivery Service und Only Yesterday will be released on December 5th. Both titles will include English subtitles and Kiki will also have the English dub.

In order to celebrate the Blu-ray Disc release of Yoshiaki Kawajiri’s classic Ninja Scroll, Studio Madhouse officially published a promotional teaser for a sequel project named Ninja Scroll Burst. So far the three episode project is still under consideration, but this won’t keep me from hoping for more anime Samurai godness from Madhouse!
If you want to see the original Ninja Scroll in high definition without paying for the subtitle-less Japanese release you’ll have to wait until November when Manga Entertainment will release the film on BD/DVD in UK.

I already added these two discs some time ago to the Asian Blu-ray Guide database, but since the great cover artwork has only been revealed some days ago, I thought I should mention the upcoming US Blu-ray Disc releases of Battle Royale here as well.
Anchor Bay will release two edition of Kinji Fukasaku’s cult hit Battle Royale on March 20th. The single-disc regular edition comes with the director’s cut version of the first film while the Complete Collection will include both versions of Battle Royale, the director’s cut of Battle Royale: Requiem plus several bonus features on four discs.
The converted 3D version of the original film is still only available in Japan and Germany withouth English subtitles…
