Festival director Manuel Ewald kindly informed me that the full program and timetable for this year’s Asia Filmfest that takes place in Munich from October 29th to November 8th and with a smaller selection in Berlin from November 13th to November 15th are now available online.

After the premiere screening of Evangelion 2.0: You can (not) advance on the German AnimagiC convention in Bonn has been canceled because of license problems, fans will get another chance to see the second part of the Rebuild of Evangelion series on the big screen.
According to the latest news letter of the Asia Filmfest 2009, the film will be one of the festival highlights to be screened in Munich starting October 29th.
Those of you who don’t want to drive to Munich in October will have to wait until May 2010 when Universal Anime, according to AniView, will release the film in the “improved” 2.01 version on DVD and probably also on Blu-ray Disc.

The official website for the Asia Filmfest has been updated with the dates for this years festivals in Munich and Berlin. From October 29th to November 8th, over 50 films from Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand and Taiwan will screen in Munich’s Gloria Palast and Mathäser Filmpalast. A slimed down selection of films can be seen in Berlin from November 13th to November 15th.
The website doesn’t name any films yet, put according to the German niche magazine Deadline we can expect the following titles: The Beast Stalker, Blood: The Last Vampire, Connected, Departures, Fireball, A Frozen Flower, Invitation Only, Overheard, Red Cliff, Samurai Princess, Shinjuku Incident, The Sniper, Sword with no Name, Vengeance, Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl, Goemon, Thirst…and if go by the (temporary?) poster The Forbidden Kingdom as well

Eine knappe Woche vor Beginn des eigentlichen Asia Filmfest 2008 wurde nun auch das Programm für die kleineren Veranstaltungsstädte Hamburg und Berlin veröffentlicht. Während in München über 50 Filme gezeigt werden, fällt im Norden die Auswahl der ab dem 14. November gezeigten Filme wesentlich kleiner übersichtlicher aus:

Das Team des ehemals alljährlich nur in München stattfindenden Asia Filmfest hat die Termine für das diesjähre Festival bekannt gegeben. Zum fünften Jubiläum wird man dieses Jahr nicht nur München, sondern auch in Hamburg und Berlin die Gelegenheit haben über 50 aktuelle Filme aus Japan, Hong Kong, Südkorea, China, Thailand und Taiwan zu genießen. Zudem werden dank dem Sponsor Animax zudem noch eine Animes präsentiert.
In München findet das Festival vom 30. Oktober bis zum 9. November statt, nördlich des Weißwurstäquators darf man sich auf das Wochenende vom 14. bis 16. November freuen. Das vollständige Programm soll am 10. Oktober veröffentlich werden, fest steht jedoch schon, daß im Rahmen der Wong Kar-Wai Retrospektive Ashes of Time in der Reduxfassung als Deutschlandpremiere gezeigt wird.

Das Programmheft zum diesjährigen Asia Filmfest in München ist nun als rund 3MB großes pdf Dokument erhältlich. Alle Filme werden inkl. Spielplan ausführlich auf deutsch und englisch (meist mit Texten von Twitch) vorgestellt.
