Ghost in the Shell Arise: First Trailer and Details

A first teaser trailer and some more details for the upcoming Ghost in the Shell Arise project were released during a launch event on Tuesday. Arise will be a series of four 50-minute episodes, with the first epsiode “Ghost Pain” opening in selected Japanese theaters on June 22nd. A DVD and Blu-ray Disc release will follow in July…hopefully with English subtitles like recent GitS related releases.
It was also revealed that Arise will be prequel and will take place in the year 2027, three years before the events of the first GitS film.

    Sieht aus wie ein Treten auf der Stelle. Ich hätte mir mal etwas ohne Motoko gewünscht. Somit wirkt das ein wenig nach Kuhmelkerei ohne neue Ideen. Ewig auf diese Melancholie fahren erzeugt keine Emotionen mehr.

    Also laut cdjapan hat die BluRay nur japanische Sprache keine Untertitel.
    Hoffentlich stimmen diese Angaben nicht. Aber immerhin soll sie Region-Free sein

    Die Anwesenheit der Tachikoma scheint doch eher auf das Serienuniversum hin zu weisen, nicht auf die Filme.

    Der kam doch bekanntermaßen erst sehr viel später dazu…
    Ich bin gespannt, wie sich das alles zusammenreimt.

    [...] Die eigentliche Geschichte des Ghost in the Shell-Franchise ist dabei ausgesprochen lang. 1989 erschien der erste Ghost in the Shell-Manga von Masamune Shirow, dessen Handlung 1995 in diesem hier vorgestellten Film aufgegriffen wurde. 2004 erhielt dieser tatsächlich ein Sequel (Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence). Von 2002 bis 2005 wurde außerdem die Anime-Serie Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex mit 2 Staffeln produziert und fand auf MTV damals auch seinen Weg ins deutsche Fernsehen. Zwischendurch gab es immer mal ein kurzes Wiedersehen mit GitS in Videospielen oder Fernsehfilmen. Jetzt im Jahr 2013 dürfen wir nun Motoko und ihre Sektion 9 wieder begrüßen.
