Subtitled Trailer for Koji Masunari’s Welcome to the Space Show

Almost in time for the screening at this years Berlinale, an English subtitled trailer for Koji Masunari’s Welcome to the Space Show (Uchū Show e Yōkoso, 宇宙ショーへようこそ) has been released on the films official website:

The film tells the story of five children that use a junglegym to travel into space (guess this happens all the time) where they meet some crazy looking aliens (including a purple Totoro look-a-like) and probably save the planet earth. The first few seconds of the A-1 Pictures production with the rural Japanese countryside look like they come from Studio Ghibli while the space scene somehow remind me of the virtual word of OZ from Studio Madhouse’s Summer Wars.

    Sieht abgefahren aus und die Landschaften sind FANTASTISCH.
    Die Monster gefallen mir dagegen nicht so richtig.
    Von den Bewegungen ähnelt es wirlich an Madhouse´s Werke.

    Sieht ja klasse aus aber mal sehen ob mich die Story interessiert ^^ ’
    Ansonsten eher: Welcome to the Englischunterricht; klingt immernoch komisch, obwohl der Sprecher keine Fehler macht.
