Our good friends at HK Mania discovered a first trailer for Mamoru Oshii’s Assault Girls on the just released Japanese DVD of Kiru ~ Kill. While they didn’t upload the trailer itself (yet?), they were kind enough to post a bunch of screencaps from the video. I just love girls in tight armour…

    Not the whole feature, but if you say it is intended for tomorrow, that explians much.

    Oshii previously directed two short films with the “assault girl” theme. The first, titled “Assault Girl: Kentucky no Hinako,” was a segment in Oshii’s 2007 omnibus movie “Shin Onna Tachiguishi Retsuden” and starred Saeki. The second, “ASSAULT GIRL2,” was part of last year’s “Kiru ~ KILL” omnibus and starred Kikuchi.

    In “Assault Girls,” the three lead actresses play assault rifle-wielding hunters fighting monsters known as “sand whales” in a desert battlefield.

    The movie appears to be getting a limited theatrical release, starting on December 19.

    “Shin Onna Tachiguishi Retsuden,” is the first of three Assault girl shorts that are the basis for his upcoming feature.
