Second Trailer for Summer Wars [Update]

After you guys heartlessly ignored the TV spot for the upcoming anime Summer Wars I posted the day before yesterday, maybe you’re interested in this second, almost two minutes long trailer. I don’t have a friggin’ clue what’s happening after that strange meteor hits the countryside (does anybody here speak Japanese?), but I expected nothing but great things from Mamoru Hosoda and Satoko Okudera and pray for an early domestic release.

Update: Kevin has found/translated a synopsis that kinda explains what happens in the trailer:

When timid eleventh-grader and math genius Kenji Koiso (Ryunosuke Kamiki) is asked by older student and secret crush Natsuki (Nanami Sakuraba) to come with her to her family’s Nagano home for a summer job, he agrees without hesitation. Natsuki’s family, the Jinnouchi clan, dates back to the Muromachi era (1336 to 1573), and they’ve all come together to celebrate the 90th birthday of the spunky matriarch of the family, Sakae. That’s when Kenji discovers his “summer job” is to pretend to be Natsuki’s fiance and dance with her at the birthday celebration. As Kenji attempts to keep up with Natsuki’s act around her family, he receives a strange math problem on his cell phone which, being a math genius, he can’t resist solving. As it turns out, the solution to the mysterious equation causes a bizarre parallel world to collide with Earth, and it’s up to Kenji and his new fake family to put reality back in order.

    Was erwartet einen da? Die Inhaltsangabe klingt interesseweckend; was man von der Parallelwelt im Trailer sieht, dieses knallig-bunte und dann dieses Eichhörnchen … das vergrault mich eher wieder.

    Bin trotzdem mal gespannt.

    Dem Trailer fehlt vor allem eines: Untertitel!

    So lange man (ok, ich) keinen blassen Schimmer hat, um was es es da nun eigentlich genau geht, fälllt es schwer sich so richtig darauf zu freuen. Sommer auf dem Lande, Meteoriteneinschag, Cyberpace… ich krieg das noch nicht so richtig in Einklang. ;-)

    The Girl Who Leapt Through Time war/ist imo verdammt großartig. Optisch steht Summer Wars nicht nach, so viel kann man dem Trailer als des Japanischen Unkundiger zumindest schon mal entnehmen. Ich hoffe die Story wird ähnlich mitreissend. Dann wird’s ein Knaller.

    Ok, ich freu mich schon mal halb. ;-)

    Wohl nix für mich. Trailer gefällt mir so gar nicht. Alles zu hysterisch und klischeehaft. Riecht auch wieder nach einer “Waschlappen-wird-zum-Helden-und-kriegt-das-widerspenstige-Mädchen”-Geschichte mit ein bischen Fantasy-Schmus.

    scheint so ein bischen in Richtung Ghibli (Chihiro) zu gehen mit dem Fantasy-Zeug.

    Da DAS MÄDCHEN DAS DURCH DIE ZEIT SPRANG (klingt doch auch nicht schecht und ist zudem sogar ganz gut übersetzt. :yeah: ) sehr gut war und mir auch die Ghibli Sachen sehr gut gefallen haben, bin ich was den neuen Film SOMMERKRIEGE (?) angeht ebenfalls guter Dinge.

    Wenn der Film nur annähernd so gut wie “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time” ist, dann kommt er in meine Sammlung… da wird Totoro seinen dicken Ranzen etwas zur Seite schieben müsse :evil:
