Lord of the Rings Blu-ray Disc Trilogy available for Pre-order

I guess fans of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkiens Lord of the Rings Trilogy will see this product listing from Amazon.com with mixed feelings. The online retailer may have the Lord of the Rings Trilogy on Blu-ray disc available for pre-order for 69.95US$ but sadly New Line Cinema has decided only the release the theatrical versions of the films in high definition.
A release date hasn’t been announced yet, but I assume New Line won’t miss out this years Christmas sales. As for the extended editions, there are a lot of rumors going around the net that Jackson will deliver a new cut with the release of the Hobbit adaptation.

    Irgendwie war das zu erwarten… – was die Extended-Editions angeht: Hatte Peter Jackson nicht sogar irgendwann mal verlauten lassen, dass er die Langfassungen erst in einem Paket komplett mit dem Hobbit auf BluRay rausbringen will? Wobei natürlich eh die Frage ist, wieviel Einfluss er auf die Veröffentlichung hat.

    Bis die beiden Hobbit-Filme mal für den “Heimgebrauch” erscheinen, ist Blu-Ray doch schon wieder out… ;)

    Auch wenns schmerzt, dann verzichte ich erstmal. Habe schon die Kinoversionen und die Extendet gekauft und die Extendet sind ja alles andere als schlechte DVDs. Bluray wäre schon göttlich, aber als Kinoversion möchte ich die Filme ehrlich gesagt gar nicht mehr sehen.
