Misleading Trailer for The Sky Crawlers DVD and Blu-ray Disc Release

Holy fraudulent representation, Batman! Seems like Sony Pictures Home Entertainment marketing team pursues it’s plan to sell us Mamoru Oshii’s latest anime work The Sky Crawlers as a no-holds-barred, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride. Not only does the recently released cover art for the films’ upcoming US DVD and Blu-ray release (May 26, 2009) reminds me a lot of Top Gun in regards of colouring and positioning, but the recently released English trailer also only features scenes of thrilling aerial duels and massive battles.
While this kind of marketing may help to sell some more copies at first, I think it could even hurt the film itself on the long run when (easily bored) people don’t get the promised action and tell their friends about “this really boring movie…”.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love The Sky Crawlers for the film it is, but you’re gonna be dissapointed when you’re expecting an action flick!

    Cool, ist ja schade wenn die einzige Aktion die im Film vorkommt, schon im Trailer gezeigt wird.
    Aber sieht echt Klasse aus!

    Und für diesen Trailer hab ich extra meinen Nadia OST pausiert? Tststs. ^^ Immer diese amerikanischen Trailer ^^ Freue mich immer über diese Kritikerzitate in Trailern welche doch beiweilen echt komisch wirken.

    Aber nun weiter mit Hajimete no Koi.

    Ach, die Amis brauchen die Action, um das Teil überhaupt erst mal zu kaufen, und das ist in meinen Augen auch ganz okay so, auch wenn sie einschlafen sollten :D !!!

    Das Michael Bay Erfolgskonzept?

    Ich fand Sky Crawlers imo gut. Die eine Actionszene klingt in DTS-HD sogar richtig fett.
