The Oscar nominated short The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello by Anthony Lucas is now available in full length and pretty good quality at YouTube. Clocked at 26 minutes, the short uses a beautiful mix of silhouette animation and CG effects to tell the story of Jasper Morella, whose former adversary Dr. Claude Belgon has returned from the dead and claims to have found the secret of life in the ancient city of Alto Mea.
Although Morella still mistrusts Belgon, he can’t resist and joins the doctor with the hope to bring back his deceased wife Amelia back to life. On their journey to the floating fortress-city they get captured by the Horizontalists, a radical anti-technology group who want to reanimate their former leader, the terrorist Vasco.

Dem Manne kann geholfen werden
In einer Welt aus eisernen Luftschiffen erzählt die Animation aus Scherenschnitt und CGI die Geschichte von Jasper Morello, einem entehrter Luftschiffnavigator, welcher aus seiner, von der Pest heimgesuchten Heimatstadt flieht, um seine Ehre wiederherzustellen.
Seine Expedition führt ihn auf eine Insel, welches die Heimat eines Monsters ist, das vielleicht den Schlüssel zur Heilung der Pest darstellt. Die Reise zurück ist gefüllt mit Gefahren, doch Jasper findet bald heraus, dass der größte Gefahr von allen im Menschen selbst liegt.
