Good news for all you Neon Genesis Evangelion fans out there…at least for those of you speaking Japanese and/or living in Japan. Gainax announced that the second film of the Rebuild of Evangelion series will open June 27, 2009 in cinemas across Japan. Advanced tickets sale will start March 14, 2009, the same day a new teaser trailer will hit the screens.
The first film, Evangelion: You Are (Not) Alone got yet another upgrade, pushing the version number to 1.11 will be (re-)released on DVD (1.01 has been released in April 2008) and Blu-ray Disc from King Records on May 27, 2009 in Japan. AV Watch doesn’t mention English subtitles and I don’t think this sad fact is gonna change since international distribution rights have already been sold (e.g. to FUNimation and ufa Anime) and Gainax probably doesn’t want to spoil the license price for 2.0…

The 1.11 release will include new cuts and digital mastering.
Wird wohl nichts weltbewegendes sein.
