Das ging ja schneller als erwartet, hoffentlich springen noch mehr Gerätehersteller auf den Kombizug auf:
Samsung told reporters in South Korea that it has begun working on a combo drive that will play both Blu-ray Disc and HD-DVD formats.
“We don’t have a plan to make an HD-DVD-only player but are considering a universal player,” Samsung’s home platform spokesman Kim Du-Hyon said. “We are preparing HD-DVD now, and if we launch a universal player, it will be the end of this year or early next year.”

Und HD-mässig werd ich auch nur zum Kombiplpayer greifen.

Kombi plus region free muss sein
Müsste dann nur schnell auch in Europa erscheinen und nich nur in Asia/ US

Region A: North America, South America, East Asia except for China (India, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia etc.)
Region B: Europe and Africa
Region C: China, Russia and other countries
HD-DVDs bekommen wohl auch Regionalcodes, wobei die momentan ausgelieferten Laufwerke wohl Codefree sind.
