Nachdem das koreanische Remake schon seit einiger Zeit hochauflösend erhältlich ist, hat sich Kam & Ronson nun endlich auch entschlossen alle drei Teile von John Woos (bzw. später Tsui Harks) A Better Tomorrow Serie auf Blu-ray Disc in Hong Kong zu veröffentlichen. Erscheinungstermin ist der 5. August, die Scheiben werden vermutlich nur auf Region A Playern abspielbar sein.
Ich hoffe ja inständig, daß sich das Label bei diesen Veröffentlichungen mehr Mühe gibt als bei ihren bisherigen Klassikserien wie Police Story oder Once Upon A Time in China, wirklich dran glauben tue ich aber nicht…

In The Viral Factor darf Dante Lam es endlich mal auch außerhalb von Hong Kong so richtig krachen lassen. Gedreht wurde der Actionthriller mit Jay Chou und Nicholas Tse in den Hauptrollen unter anderem in Jordanien. Kinostart ist im Februar 2012.

Synopsis:

The Viral Factor stars Jay Chou and Nicholas Tse as two Brothers who stand on opposite sides of the law but finally have to unite in order to stop a maste criminal from releasing a fatal strain of mutating virus onto the world.

Kompletter Trailer zur Smuggler Realverfilmung (basierend auf dem Manga von Shohei Manabe) von Katsuhito Ishii (The Taste of Tea, Funky Forest).

Synopsis:

A failed actor named Ryosuke (Satoshi Tsumabuki) takes a part-time job at a pachinko parlor. After racking up a huge debt, he’s forced to take a smuggling job from a yakuza company chief (Yasuko Matsuyuki) who offers him 50,000 yen per successful delivery.
Unfortunately for Ryosuke, the reason for this big payout is that his new job actually entails disposing of corpses in the middle an escalating gang war, and making even the slightest mistake could prove deadly.

Erster Teaser Trailer zum südkoreanischen Thriller Hindsight (Blue Salt) von Il Mare Regisseur Lee Hyun-Seung. Ehemaliger Gangsterboss verliebt sich bei einem Kochkurs in ein hübsches Mädel, das außerhalb der Küche eine Auftragskillerin ist…solche Geschichten erlebe ich hier jeden Tag!

Synopsis:

Retired mob boss Du-heon enrolls in a cooking class with the hopes of making a fresh start as a restaurant owner. In the class he meets a quirky girl, Se-bin, and finds himself drawn to her mysterious charms. Despite his determination to wipe the slate clean, Du-heon is summoned back into the criminal fold by his old colleagues to stop his successor expanding the mob business into prostitution and drug-dealing.

But there’s more to the girl from the cooking class than meets the eye: Se-bin is a contract killer hired by the new boss. She keeps a close eye on Du-heon and watches for an opportunity to take him out. However, she comes into conflict with herself as she grows attached to him.

Lebenszeit als Währung, ein ganz interessantes Konzept das Regisseur und Autor Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, Lord of War) da in seinem Thriller In Time vorstellt. Bei der Hauptbesetzung mit Justin Timberlake und Olivia Wilde bin ich mir allerdings noch nicht so sicher. Cillian Murphy als Bösewicht hingegen könnte schon wieder was reißen.

Welcome to a world where time has become the ultimate currency. You stop aging at 25, but there’s a catch: you’re genetically-engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. The rich “earn” decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal, while the rest beg, borrow or steal enough hours to make it through the day. When a man from the wrong side of the tracks is falsely accused of murder, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage. Living minute to minute, the duo’s love becomes a powerful tool in their war against the system.

Nach diversen Verschiebungen durch den südkoreanischen Distributor Contents Zone hat YesAsia nun endlich die Blu-ray Disc Veröffentlichung von A Bittersweet Life gelistet.
Kim Ji-Woon’s Rachethriller erscheint nun am 30. August in zwei Varianten (beide mit der Director’s Cut Fassung und englischen Untertiteln), die sich jedoch nur in der Verpackung unterscheiden. Während die Standardedition in einem Schuber verpackt ist, kommt die limitierte Coffee Book Edition in einem Hardcover Buch daher, mit dem man die Tanten beim Kaffeetrinken beeindrucken kann. Bei beiden Edition gibt es noch vier Motivpostkarten dazu. Zum Thema Regionalcode lässt sich bisher noch nichts sagen.

20th Century Fox hat einen Teaser für die am 12. September erscheinenden Star Wars Blu-ray Disc Sets veröffentlicht, der einige bisher ungesehene Szenen (z.B. Wampa Angriff auf die Hoth Basis, Sandsturm auf Tatooine) der Sternensaga zeigt.
Und damit auch keiner auf die Idee kommt, nur das Set mit der guten Trilogie zu kaufen werden diese Szenen nur auf dem Komplettset mit allen sechs Filmen beigepackt…

Sieht ein bisschen nach dem Covermotiv einer Criterion Collection Veröffentlichung aus, was auf der Comic Con da als erster Poster für James McTeigues Thriller The Raven mit John Cusack als Edgar Allan Poe als Detektiv wider Willen.

Synopsis:

When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields (Luke Evans) makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper–part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack). But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story. Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.

THR berichtet, daß The Indomina Group, eine in der Dominkanischen Republik beheimatetes Produktionsfirma während der gerade laufenden Comic Con freudig verkündet hat, Takeshi Okazakis Afro Samurai Manga als Realfilm umzusetzen.
Samuel L. Jackson, der dem granteligen Samurai mit der prächtigen Haarpracht in Gonzos Animeadaption seine Stimme leiht soll zusammen mit Animationsstudio an der Produktion beteiligt sein. Die Dreharbeiten sollen im nächsten Jahr in der DomRep beginnen, ein Video vom Training der Stuntmen hat es aber schonmal ins Netz geschafft…
Ich bin mal gespannt, wieviele der abgedrehten Feinde es in die “reale” Welt schaffen und vor allem ob Sam auch wieder vor dem Mikrofon Platz nehmen darf.
