Synopsis:

The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950′s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick’s signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.

In den USA erntet Zack Snyders Sucker Punch nach dem Kinostart ja gerade recht durchwachsene Kritiken. Ich freu mich trotzdem wie Bolle auf das Teil, was unter anderem auch an den drei neuen animierten Kurzfilmen liegt, die ein bisschen mehr über die Gegner der Mädels erzählen…

Synopsis:

Nachdem wir kurz vor der letztjährigen Weihnachtszeit mit einem ersten kurzen Teaser angefüttert wurden, hat es Ruairí­ Robinsons Kurzfilm über den Spiel- und Spaßroboter BLINKY nun auch in kompletter Form ins Netz geschafft.

Amazon und CDJapan haben gerade die japanische Blu-ray Disc Veröffentlichung von Studio Ghiblis letzten Werk The Borrower Arrietty (Karigurashi no Arrietty) ins Sortiment aufgenommen.
Viel ist über die am 17. Juni erscheinende Scheibe noch nicht bekannt, es wurde jedoch schon verraten, daß Englische und Französische Untertitel mit an Bord sind. Franzosen, Koreaner und Chinesen (Mandarin und Kantonesisch) können sich zudem über eine eigene Tonspur freuen. Beim Coverdesign orientiert man sich an den bereits bekannten Veröffentlichungen von Nausicaä, Laputa und My Neighbors the Yamadas.

Netter animierter Kurzfilm namens The Trenches zu Zack Snyders am 31. März startenden Augenzuckerwerk Sucker Punch. Nach der Sichtung werde ich Zombiesoldaten wohl nie wieder so sehen wie zuvor…

Erster Trailer zu Hiroaki Andos CG Anime Norageki!, der im Gegensatz zum ersten Teaser auch tatsächlich bewegtes Material und nicht nur Skizzen zeigt. Dem Projekt nach einem Skript von Dai Sato (GitS:SAC, Ergo Proxy) merkt man die CG Herkunft zwar an, aber das sieht schonmal deutlich besser als beim etwas unrunde Nudelprojekt Freedom aus.

Norageki! soll am 25. März 2011 auf DVD und Blu-ray Disc in Japan erscheinen, vermutlich aber ohne englische Untertitel.
Synopsis:

In an isolated prison, a young man who seems conscientious, a sexy woman, a middle-aged ex-army man, an otaku girl, a mysterious old man and a cat are confined there. One day, they get freed after a blackout. In a strange way, all the prison guards have disappeared and they don’t know why they are released. They try to escape from the prison, however an extraordinary event occurs…

Das Team der Nippon Connection hat das komplette Programm des elften japanischen Filmfestivals bekannt gegeben. Das Spektakel findet diese Jahr, der aktuellen Ereignisse in Japan zum Trotz vom 27. April bis 1. Mai wie immer in Frankfurt am Main statt.
Auf der Website des Festivals gibt es leider noch keinen Übersichtsplan, deshalb hier die aktuelle List aus der Pressemitteilung.

Synopsis:

Joar, hat irgendwie was…
Blöd nur, daß Magnet Releasing (ein Unterarm von Magnolia) Takashi Miike’s 13 Assassins im März erstmal in die VOD Hölle schickt und den Film nicht direkt auf DVD und Blu-ray Disc veröffentlicht. Das macht Ascot Elite im Mai nämlich brav bei uns.
