Regisseur Kazuya Sasahara möchte den Zuschauern, die es schon gewohnt sind daß ihnen gezeigt wird wie Menschen in Kriegsfilmen draufgehen mal etwas anderes bieten und hat die Hauptrollen in Cat Shit One (US Titel Apocalypse Meow) kurzerhand mit flauschigen Getier besetzt, die (für mich als COD4 gestählten Zivilisten) in den Gefechten allerdings recht realistisch und knallhart agieren. Studio Anima sucht aktuell nach Investoren um alle geplanten 12 Episoden der CG Serie nach der Mangavorlage von Motofumi Kobayashi produzieren zu können.

Hab gerade gelesen, daß der Manga im Vietnamkrieg spielt und die Vietnamesen als Katzen dargestellt wurden, daher der Name. Die neuen Episoden laufen dann wohl als Camel Shit One…

Das Thema is ja recht ernst, dummerweise sehen die Tiere so bemackt verniedlicht aus, das es eher witzig wirkt und daher auch als Parable nich wirklich funzt. Hatte den Trailer an n’ Kumpel weitergeschickt und der dachte es wäre ne Komödie.
Schade, eigentlich ist es gut gemacht, in der Form für mich allerdings reizlos.

I HAD to do a quick translation just for fun. A few characters in the opening were too blurry to read, so I just guessed in places.
(Opening story)
Private Military Corporations (Minkan Gunji Kaisha)
Due to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the end of the Cold War the USA became the center of many nations who decreased military spending, and many of a new breed of soldier were born.
With the end of the Cold War the strength of the great nations declined and around the world terrorist activity and civil war raged, there were a number of ethnic conflicts, and the need for those with special skills rose. Soldiers who had lost their places in the great armies answered that need and sold their combat skills.
That’s where private military corporations come in.
(dialogue)
Botasky (Sniper): Wait! Packy, can we do this by ourselves?
Packy (w/ hat): If we don’t do it now, those two will be killed. We can coordinate by wireless. You shoot from here. I’ll flank them and go in close. Don’t worry; we can handle it.
[Packy flanks, Botasky acquires a target and fires]
Botasky: I killed him! This might work! (Trans. note, that second sentence is probably wrong.)
[scene change]
Packy: You just increase the risk, so it’s better not to come.
[after Packy takes out bad guys w/ the rocket launcher, the following appears]
